Artist Bio
Josh Colosky is a guitarist, music educator, and founder of Sonic Mountain Studio, based in Southeast Alaska. His playing spans classical performance, to touring rock stages with a wide range of styles including flamenco, folk, rock, metal, soul, surf, bluegrass, and beyond.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Classical Guitar from Central Michigan University and has toured as lead guitarist for the rock band Finding Clyde, sharing stages with Donald Kinsey of Bob Marley and the Wailers, Ace Frehley of KISS, Skid Row, Shinedown, and Godsmack. He has also toured with Kavazabava, Michigan’s Balkan-klezmer Gypsy band, and opened for Billy Strings.
In Southeast Alaska, Josh is a consistent presence in the local music scene, performing with bands including Trolls in the Valley, Spondonicles, Dunch, The Psychotics, Anel y los Vatos, and King Rooster. He currently plays with Bards of Mendenhell who are set to release their debut album late summer of this year.
His work in music education runs deep in the region. With over fifteen years of experience, Josh has served as the Elementary Music Teacher at Haines Borough School District and worked with Juneau Alaska Music Matters (J.A.M.M.), a nonprofit dedicated to music access and education in Southeast Alaska.
Through Sonic Mountain Studio, he continues to offer private lessons and workshops to students of all ages — in person and Zoom. His approach blends technique, theory, and creative exploration, with a focus on helping each student develop their own voice on the instrument.
